Abiding in the Waiting: Finding Peace on Holy Saturday

Abiding in the Waiting: Finding Peace on Holy Saturday
Between the sorrow of the cross and the joy of resurrection lies a quiet day often overlooked: Holy Saturday.
For the disciples, this day must have felt confusing and uncertain.
Jesus had died.
Their hopes seemed shattered.
And the promises they had believed appeared to be buried in a tomb.
Holy Saturday represents something many believers experience—the waiting season.
When God Feels Silent
Christian women often walk through seasons where God seems quiet. Perhaps even distant.
Prayers feel unanswered.
Direction feels unclear.
Faith feels stretched.
These moments can feel like Holy Saturday.
Yet Scripture reminds us that God is always at work, even when we cannot see it.
Abiding Instead of Striving
Jesus spoke about abiding in John 15, saying, “Abide in me, and I in you.”
Abiding means remaining, resting, and trusting in God’s presence.
In waiting seasons, our temptation is to strive for control. But Holy Saturday teaches us that sometimes faith looks like stillness.
God was working behind the scenes even when the disciples could not understand the story.
Trusting God’s Timing
The resurrection did not come on Friday night.
It came in God’s perfect timing.
For the woman waiting for clarity, healing, restoration, or direction, this truth matters deeply: God’s timing is never accidental.
What feels like a delay may actually be preparation.
Reflection
Ask yourself:
• Where in your life are you in a “waiting season”?
• What might it look like to abide in Christ during that time?
Holy Saturday reminds us that silence is not absence. God is still writing the story.
