3 Simple Ways to Share the Gospel
If you’ve ever invested in any relationship, chances are you’re aware of just how unique one person can be from another.
God created us similarly in that we encompass body, mind, soul, and heart; however, He intricately handcrafted us with individual talents, passions, and learning styles.
We are also gifted with spiritual gifts, and it is our gifts that help us carry out our purpose – kingdom building. We don’t earn these gifts, and we do not buy these gifts. As a believer, we receive spiritual gifts through the Holy Spirit, and the Bible offers us instructions on how we are to use our gifts as followers of Christ.
Your spiritual gifts equip you as you carry out your calling. If you are gifted with the spiritual gift of shepherding, you serve by tending to others and guiding them in their spiritual journey. If God gave you the gift of evangelism (to proclaim the good news about Jesus Christ), seek opportunities to share your testimony and to prepare others to share the good news.
“And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,” Ephesians 4:11–12.
As we consider how we were created in the image of God, it is essential to understand the importance of our role in sharing the salvation of Jesus, and that includes you and me.
The Importance of Sharing the Gospel
We all have a Jesus story. And chances are, as you look back to the start of your relationship with God, you can think of at least one person who impacted your choice to say yes.
I fondly recall the godly folks who influenced not only me but my husband as well, leading us to accept Christ as our Lord and Savior. These brothers and sisters in Christ poured into us. A young married couple who grew up attending church but never fully understood the significance of committing our life to Christ met this beautiful community of believers who exemplified the love of Christ. They loved us unconditionally. These men and women prayed over us and with us as we knelt before Christ admitting, believing, and confessing that Jesus is Lord.
As a new transplant in an unfamiliar place, I began my spiritual journey due to the precious gift of a small group of believers who shared the gospel.
Romans 10:14 NIV says, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”
How can those around us – our family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors – know the power of God unless we share the testimony of what the Lord has done in our lives? Much like the faithful believers that shared the good news with Scott and me. These men and women were light bearers for Christ (Matthew 5:14-16 The Message).
My friend, it is important to remember that we live in a world where many people have not heard the Good News of Jesus Christ, and if you are a follower of Him, you have been given the incredible responsibility of sharing the Gospel.
How can they believe if they have not heard?
Surrender and Obedience
For most, sharing Christ with others can be scary and intimidating. Sharing our testimony opens us up to judgment exposing our vulnerabilities. However, our testimony is a powerful story of our spiritual journey. – a testament to God and His goodness. Although it may be uncomfortable at first, God is faithful to provide the strength and boldness needed to proclaim His Word.
“And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’“ Romans 10:15 NIV
God invites us to journey with Him and take part in advancing His Kingdom. And even though you may feel uncertain about how and when to share the gospel, when the moment appears, at that very moment, your words will flow as a beautiful blessing as you walk in obedience to Christ.
Simple Ways to Share the Gospel
Romans 10:17 NIV encourages us that “faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.”
Think about these words for a moment. Faith comes from hearing the message. The Holy Spirit uses our words, personalities, spiritual gifts, and lives to share the goodness of Jesus. And just as each individual is unique to one another, there are similar ways to share the Gospel with those around us.
How can you share the gospel with those around you? Here are 3 simple ways to share the good news:
Share Your Testimony: When was the last time you shared your testimony? Why not share your story this week? Grab coffee with a friend and tell her how God has redeemed your life. Speak up in your Bible study and share your story with those around you.
As we intentionally choose to be vulnerable with others about our story of struggle and victory, God creates connection and wonder, allowing the other person to listen and process His goodness. When we share our testimony, we are giving God the glory – Amen!
Announce on Social Media: Social media is an excellent tool for sharing the Gospel, and let’s face it, as kingdom builders, we need to proclaim God’s Word on social media! Many women use social media for connection and community, so sharing your story may be the source of much-needed encouragement at just the right time for a woman as she scrolls through her feed.
Live the Gospel: Our greatest testimony of a changed life is reflected through our daily lives, and our most significant impact for Heaven is how we love others. God calls us to love one another. How are you living out your calling? Are you quick to forgive, serve those in need, or be present for the one before you?
When we allow Jesus to be the Lord of our lives, His light is reflected through us, and those He has placed in front of us will take notice. Be generous with your life. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God (Matthew 5:16 The Message).
Daughters, I pray that as we embark on this discipleship journey together and we will be good stewards of the story God has given us. Let’s make sharing the Gospel a part of our norm, and in doing so, may we help others to uniquely see the goodness of God.
