You Are Born Again
There is nothing quite like the fragrances of summer – the sweet smell of freshly mowed grass and the savory aroma of barbeque wafting through the gentle breeze. But nothing can quite compare to the scent of coconut oil, sand dunes, and saltwater beneath the warmth of the summer sun.
While most think of summer as a time to relax and rest, it is actually a season of growth for some. A time for reflection and renewal. A time to nurture and cultivate seedlings into fruits and to prepare for the harvest.
Whether our fruits are from years of tending or recent planting, summer is a time to reap what we’ve sown. A time of year when fruit seedlings have sprouted tiny flowers and are now transforming into mature ripened fruits ready for harvest. And interestingly enough, our lives in Christ are no different.
Galatians 3:26 AMP says, “For you [who are born-again have been reborn from above – spiritually, transformed, renewed, sanctified and] are all children of God [set apart for His purpose with full rights and privileges] through faith in Christ Jesus.”
As we embrace our identities as children of God, the Father invites us into the summer season of our souls, where His fruit is sprouting forth, and new life flourishes.
New Life in Christ
New life in Christ happens when we are born again. But what does it mean to be born again?
When we accept God’s gift of salvation through Christ’s work on the cross and confess that Jesus is Lord over our lives, we are birthed into the family of heaven. Not only are we called daughters, but we are now made holy – blameless before God – and heirs alongside Christ. This new life in Him brings freedom from death and the bondage of sin and failures we endure as we live on earth.
New Identity in Christ
As we embrace a new life in Christ, our identities are being perfected as well. We have transformed from orphan to child, lost to found, and spiritually dead to living abundantly! Through Christ’s eternal gift, we now have a new way of thinking and a new way of life. This lifestyle promotes love, righteousness, and peace as we commune with Christ, and even though this change happens in our personal spiritual life, it overflows abundantly to our families, our communities, and the world.
New Purpose in Christ
We are each born with a purpose from heaven. However, it isn’t until we submit to the will of Christ that our purpose’s seed is watered and begins to flourish. As we begin to know God through His word, in prayer, and in our relationship with Christ, that purpose will manifest in His perfect timing. And as we rely on the Holy Spirit to be our guide, He will reveal the new trajectory of our path, allowing our purposes to be made complete, lacking nothing.
Daughter, through the love of Christ, you are alive, called by a new name, and have a purpose on this side of heaven and eternity to come. May the Lord continue to strengthen and encourage you as you live this new life pleasing to Him.
