God’s Creation: A Wonderfully Made Tapestry
She sits on her oversized couch, holding two knitting needles. The soft baby blue yarn is spaced just so around her index finger and thumb. Very carefully, she casts on one stitch at a time as the sun cascades through her living room window, providing warmth and light on the life forming within her growing belly.
Closing her eyes, she takes a moment to reflect on her baby, who, like her, is a child of God.
Isn’t it incredible that of all of God’s creation, you and I were created in God’s image?
God is so deliberately intentional in how He created every one of us, and through our unique giftings, talents, and passions, He connects His heart with ours and the hearts of humanity.
The Divine Knitter
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” Psalm 139:13 NIV
Our relationship with the Father begins long before we take our first breath; it starts in the womb.
In His lovingkindness, He is the artisan of our DNA, purpose, and calling, all of which become realized when we are born. God handcrafts our physical features and knits together the things that evoke compassion, promote natural talent, and drive us to bring change to the world.
A Wonderfully Holy Pattern
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.” Psalm 139:14-15 NIV
Do you dwell on the things that make you feel disqualified?
Maybe you find yourself comparing your weaknesses to the strengths of your co-worker, or you feel the tension of not being good enough to complete a task, so you allow your doubts to stop you from doing or becoming.
Well, the truth is, we won’t ever be perfect and equipped enough in our own strength because God designed us to rely on His. However, that doesn’t mean we aren’t good enough in the eyes of the Father.
God intricately and without failure crafted us into the person He wants us to be – flaws and all. While we are wonderfully made, we also are woven into His heart.
Tapestry of God’s Love
“Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Psalm 139:16 NIV
Did you know that every event in your life was planned even before the creation of the universe?
God knows now and knew even then where we would struggle and where we would succeed. He knew where we would experience pain and the healing waiting on the other side. He saw the events that required reliance on Him and the places where you would illuminate His grace.
Dear one, there is a purpose in every woven color in your tapestry. It is beautiful and wonderfully made, lacking in nothing. And now that you are a complete work in Christ, what a sight it will be to carry heaven’s beauty to the earth.
You are a tapestry of God’s love.
You are loved.
You are called.
You are anointed.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 NIV
