ARE YOU LONGING FOR PURPOSE?

SEEKING PURPOSE?
We all long to live a fulfilled life with meaning and purpose. Yet if we’re honest, living with purpose and fulfilling our God-given calling isn’t always easy and can be a bit confusing.
Sometimes our journey to living with purpose is filled with detours, heartaches, and messy middle moments where it’s easy for us to stray and get sidetracked.
Moreover, the world presents distractions in various forms, akin to the bright shiny object syndrome, where new trends and fads distract us with promises of success. Yet, they also create confusion, causing us to lose focus and ultimately end up running in a different direction without a clear purpose or plan. These distractions are like noise, and if we’re not careful, they can keep us from reaching our full potential in Christ.
Reflection: Are there any bright shiny objects filling your life, leaving no room for God? Are the trends and fads you’re following healthy for you? Are the things you are focusing on (making a priority) getting you closer to your calling?
Seeking a God-centered Life
So, how can a busy woman discover her purpose and the plans the Lord has for her? How can she live a life of meaning amongst the obstacles that threaten to derail her course?
I’m asked this question quite often, and I also ask the same question, “How will I know?”
Well, sometimes we don’t know, and that’s where our faith comes in – we step out in confidence, allowing God to lead us – not our flesh, desires, or influences.
Lately, there’s been some hype about specific personality tests and assessments, and truthfully, I’m not sure the assessments are healthy for our spiritual growth or for seeking God’s will for our lives. You see, when we begin to turn to formulas or numbers to find our purpose, we have taken our eyes off of God, and we have placed something or someone in front of or alongside our God. When this happens, these “things” of the world can become idols without us even realizing it (bright shiny objects).
Reflection: Are you placing God at the center of your life as you seek His call for your life? Are you allowing the things of this world to influence you? Are you jumping on the latest trend to be a part of something, a need to belong, without any regard for God?
Total Surrender
How do we live a God-centered life? First, we must glorify and honor God in every area of our lives. This includes our thoughts, behavior, work, play, dress, language, and music, right down to the books we read.
While He doesn’t demand perfection, He does require our trust that He knows what’s best for us, even if we don’t see the way or understand the call.
Then, as we surrender, He expects us to share His Good News and spread His message of hope and love. Our calling, our life, should reflect a heart changed by grace. Our actions, words, behavior, and language should reflect God. We, as daughters of the King, represent our Heavenly Father.
Reflection: Are your words, thoughts, dress, work, and recreation reflecting God? Are you sharing your testimony with those you meet, offering them hope for a better future?
Honor in the EveryDay
These words are not meant to discourage you but to alert you to the significance of daily habits and actions. I know, it doesn’t sound exciting. You’re not on-stage leading women in praise or traveling the country with your latest book tour. But we need to remind ourselves that we are making an impact every day through our words and actions. Those days when we’re not at our best, well, that’s when we let the enemy in – and once the enemy gets in, our light begins to dim, and we struggle to reflect God’s light.
For instance, just last week, I lost my patience with an individual who was being a bit curt with me. Let’s just say it wasn’t a shining moment for me. And, I felt really bad. Why couldn’t I just let this person have a bad day and walk away? Why did I react? In hindsight, my thoughts should have turned immediately to WWJD; instead, they turned to my need for reprisal, which is not who I want to be, nor is it who God is calling me to be. There wasn’t any Salt and Light coming out of me in this situation.
Our Calling
You see, our mission is to live the Gospel in everyday life and to live a life honoring God. That’s our calling. Your calling may be standing on a stage, speaking to hundreds of women, singing praise in your church, or reading the Bible to your children. The size of the calling isn’t the focus because we are all called to be disciples of Christ. Our purpose, well, that’s a part of our calling. We are all seeking meaning, and I pray you are seeking YOUR God-given purpose. Placing your trust and hope in God will lead you to your purpose. Be patient and trust.
Reflection: Where do you believe God is calling you? Is there an area of your life needing adjustment to reflect God’s light? Where can you serve in your current season?
We are Forgiven
My purpose? I believe God has brought me through a range of life experiences, and I am called to share these experiences with women. My passion is to help women like you find purpose in the midst of everyday life. You were appointed for such a time as this. I desire to help women like you step confidently into their calling with Biblically-based resources, providing the support you need to lead with purpose and passion, regardless of your season or circumstance.
We are each created for a specific purpose. Our past, including the challenges and difficulties, is part of our story. Sharing and mentoring women to help them overcome their past and find their purpose is what I’m passionate about. Why? God accepted me, and He has forgiven me. I want you to experience the same love and acceptance. When we surrender to God’s will, He leads us on a journey like no other. But He cannot lead us if we are not living a God-centered life, walking in obedience.
Reflection: What does your walk look like? Is there an area of your life where you are not living in obedience to God’s Word? Are you serving others, or are you serving yourself?
We are Chosen
“We are confident that God is able to orchestrate everything to work toward something good and beautiful when we love Him and accept His invitation to live according to His plan. From the distant past, His eternal love reached into the future. You see, He knew those who would be His one day, and He chose them beforehand to be conformed to the image of His Son so that Jesus would be the firstborn of a new family of believers, all brothers, and sisters. As for those He chose beforehand, He called them to a different destiny so that they would experience what it means to be made right with God and share in His glory.” Romans 8:28-30 The Voice
Today, I encourage you to embrace your call and share in His glory. You were appointed for a time such as this. Be confident in God and step into your calling. If you have any thoughts or fears about your purpose or surrendering to God, please reach out. It’s important to know that you are not alone. I’ll be praying for your journey!
