SIMPLE SELF-CARE TIPS FOR THE CHRISTMAS SEASON

SIMPLE SELF-CARE TIPS FOR THE CHRISTMAS SEASON
Self-care doesn’t need to be challenging, time-consuming, or expensive. Self-care is about taking time out for rest, reflection, and refreshment. It only takes a few moments to slow down, breathe in, and exhale – letting it all go.
This Christmas Season, I encourage you to give yourself room to relax. Try building time for self-care into your day. It’s not always about planning time for self-care; sometimes it’s a much-needed, unexpected break. This holiday season, take time to pamper your mind, body, and soul!
Commit to the Art of Self-care
I’ve listed a few recommendations that work well for me when I need to unwind, relax, or rest. Remember, it does take discipline to put yourself first, especially if you’re like me and tend to put others first, but once you experience the benefits of self-care, you’ll realize its importance and prioritize it. And I’ve often been heard repeating the adage, You can’t pour from an empty cup!
The tips I’m sharing are simple and inexpensive. No need to spend money or break your budget for a few moments of R & R. You just need to commit to the art of self-care, and it will become a practice you can’t live without due to the benefits it provides!
Simple (and inexpensive) Self-care Tips
- Be mindful. Give your full attention to the present.
- Enjoy quality time with your furry friend. Mine happens to be an adorable little Yorkie, aRLo!
- Flex and stretch. Practice a few restorative yoga poses, such as Adept’s pose and Supported Child’s Pose, which are great for beginners. I use this time to meditate on Scripture.
- Relax by taking a bubble bath. A hot bath releases stress and boosts your immune system.
- Sip a cup of hot tea, open your bible, read, and reflect.
- Sit by the fire. Did you know that watching the flames in a fireplace lowers your blood pressure?
- Sit quietly. Take in your surroundings. Breathe long, slow breaths. Relax.
- Spend time outdoors. Fresh air, sunshine, mountains, water, or forests – find your place and take in nature.
- Take a power nap. 10-20 minutes increases alertness and productivity!
- Take a walk. People who walk 10-15 minutes a day are healthier than people who do not walk.
What Matters Most
I hope you find these simple, cost-free self-care tips helpful this Christmas Season. It is my prayer that you focus on what’s important – Christ. Choose to spend your time on what matters most, and place your trust in Him.
Be in the moment. Love one another. Celebrate the birth of Christ!
“Dear friend, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, just as it is well with your soul.” 3 John 2 (NET)
