WHAT DRIVES YOU?

ARE YOU ON THE RIGHT PATH?
Do you ever wonder if you are on the right path? And, if so, how can you be sure you are heading in the right direction? What guides you? What drives you? My core values (fundamental beliefs) guide me and help me determine whether I’m on the right path and fulfilling my purpose.
Core values also communicate to my team members and visitors to my blog what I believe in…what I stand for. Core values are the “heart of Robinality.” The core values of Robinality provide a light on my path, and when my values align with my actions, there’s flow and harmony. And I’m one that flourishes on harmony – I don’t do drama, and I don’t care for negativity. My fundamental beliefs keep me on the right track.
Bright Shiny Objects
There are many new things available to us every day, things that are attractive and enticing. I call it “the bright shiny object” syndrome. You may have heard of it. Something new comes along, and we give it a try. Why? Because everyone else is doing it, and we want to join in on the fun. If I’m not focusing on my core values, the new fads or trends can be a distraction and lead me astray. It’s true when you’re told to run your own race. What works for one doesn’t always work for another, so before you grab onto the newest thing out there, test it against your core values. Ask yourself if it aligns with your fundamental beliefs.
Does It Line Up with Your Fundamental Beliefs?
I’ll give you an example. I discovered, from many of my “online” friends, a magnetic life coach. My connections claimed to be amazing. They also stated they were growing and increasing in their line of work due to the magnetic life coach’s program. So, I thought, wow, I need to check this person out. I’ll admit, the website – photos, content, and testimonies – was appealing. The offerings from this particular coach were exciting retreats, speaking engagements, and conferences. The photos were alive with successful women having the time of their lives. The website was very polished and sophisticated, with lots of bright, shiny branding!
For a few weeks, I lingered in the background while checking out the content and social media of this magnetic coach. I’m not sure why I lingered so long, but I did (I think it was a check in my spirit). Then, one day, there it was – the popular coach offered astrology and daily horoscopes for paid members. Put on the brakes!
If you know me, the zodiac does not align with my core values and beliefs. It just doesn’t line up. Although it’s sometimes easier to go with the flow, I’m just not that kinda gal. I prefer to be set apart and follow my heart. My fundamental beliefs are rooted in my values and principles. It was once shared that I had a strong moral compass. That’s me. If it goes against my principles, I’m out. Before I walk, I’ll try to reach out and offer insight or accountability, but if my sharing is not embraced, I’m doing a U-turn. So, I’ll ask you again, what’s driving you?
Core Values: SISTER
My core values drive me, excite me, and challenge me. My fundamental beliefs help me to determine whether the path I’m on is the right path. The core values of Robinality are to sister one another in love. SISTER is my guide.
Service – contribute to and serve one another selflessly; to genuinely invest in one another.
Integrity – act with honor; do the right thing in all circumstances.
Significance – recognize the qualities and values in others.
Trust – foster a community of openness and honesty, being trustworthy in all things.
Encourage – build up one another, lift one another as stated in 1 Thessalonians 5:11 NIV, “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
Relationships – create authentic relationships based on 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NIV, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
These six core values guide me and hold me accountable, which is important to my journey and my desire to live with purpose.
I’d love you to share your core values or testimonies about how they’ve kept you on track. If you’re struggling to create your values, I’m here to assist. You can reach out, and I’d be happy to help you clarify your core values. I look forward to hearing from you!
