It is such an honor to share this month’s Behind the Scenes interview with Carolyn Pankalla, my sister-in-Christ. I hope you enjoy getting know her!
It was quite a feat getting time with Carolyn for the interview. She has a busy schedule but always finds time for fellowship. Carolyn spends her days serving in many areas although her first priority is her relationship with Jesus. Carolyn has spent her life serving Christ and continues to share the message. She has a passion to see the broken healed, and the lost found.
You may have seen Carolyn on TV 45 where she co-hosts the women’s show, Current, or leading the morning worship service at First Baptist Church of Clermont. Carolyn has also appeared on the 700 Club, TBN, Life Today with James & Betty Robinson, LeSea, Morris Cerullo, Moody Radio, PTL, Jonnie & Marcus Lamb Show, and Day Star to name a few!
Carolyn is a mother to three beautiful children ages 15, 11, and 7, and wife to Sean, her husband of 17 years. Carolyn’s life is an inspirational, heart-warming story. As the youngest of seven children, Carolyn lost her parents at a very young age.
Her father was a traveling Evangelist, and her mother a passionate, loving caretaker of their family. Carolyn began her singing career at the age of 2, performing with her family. It was during a drive home late one evening from a concert that she lost her mother in a tragic car accident. Carolyn shares her mother “was laid to rest in the arms of Jesus that night.” Carolyn had been severely injured in the accident as well, and the doctors were not sure she would make it through the night as a result of head trauma. With this news, her family did the only thing they knew to do, they got down on their knees and began to pray. Nothing short of a miracle, Carolyn survived.
Broken into Beautiful
At the age of 9, Carolyn began recording in studios, which was the start of her professional career. As her career was taking off at the age of 13, tragedy again struck the family when they lost their beloved father in a fire. Carolyn reflects they had just gotten off the road and back into town from a concert when they received a call that their house had caught on fire, and her father was taken home to be with the Lord. Carolyn once again was faced with a choice; she could get bitter or get better. It was at this time Carolyn’s story was birthed, a story of hope as she shares how God had blessed her with a message of hope, “Your God is still greater than anything your facing, your choice is between life and death,” says Carolyn. She is passionate about telling people that we are not called into bondage, or victim mentalities, or spirits. Her title track Broken into Beautiful is her message that God can take all that is Broken, and make it whole again – God’s Redemption is real.
Carolyn shared one of her favorite verses.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
She continued to exclaim, “He tells us not to be afraid, to trust in Him, the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings.” These words are a testament to Carolyn’s faith and trust in God.
