The Benefits of Titus 2 Mentoring

The Benefits of Titus 2 Mentoring
This month, I have been deep into studying relationships, and Titus 2 mentoring has become especially close to my heart.
Titus 2:1 “You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine.”
What is Titus 2 Mentoring?
Titus 2 Mentoring is a mentoring relationship established between an older woman and a younger woman. Two women, sharing with one another through connection and conversation. Titus 2 mentoring uses God’s Word for guidance and wisdom.
Titus 2 mentoring helps bridge generational gaps and creates support systems built on trust and mutual respect.
My Experiences
Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to have mentored many amazing young women. These women have been a real blessing to me.
These mentoring relationships have allowed me to share my experiences and my challenges, essentially my life story, with them. This opportunity has brought me much joy, and I find that I, too, learn from the mentees or merea.
We are in this Together
I believe it is important for women to share their stories with one another. How comforting is it to know that you are not alone and that what you are experiencing is only temporary? I also know that our stories connect us to one another. It’s those moments when someone declares, you too? after hearing your story.
And if you know anything about me at all, you know that I am forever grateful for the women who have mentored me. The remarkable women who gave their time, resources, and advice to guide me in my journey.
Personally, I love to hear a friend’s perspective on a problem or challenge I may be facing. Someone I trust and know that they understand my situation. Although there are different types and levels of mentoring relationships, a healthy mentoring relationship is created by trust and authenticity.
Trust and Authenticity = Vulnerability
Sharing our personal history can sometimes be difficult. When we share, we make ourselves vulnerable, and this can be somewhat unsettling.
However, when we are genuine and honest, we allow a deeper connection. It is at this level that we create opportunities for transformation and empowerment.
It is important that we trust the person we share our personal stories with. Trust is the foundation of the Titus 2 Mentoring relationship or any mentoring relationship.
Keeping the Faith
I have had a wide variety of women mentors who all held different views or experiences, but they all had one thing in common: they were believers. They were strong in their faith, and God’s Word guided them. This is probably the main reason I was drawn to them in the first place. They reflected God’s light in their words and actions. His light shone through them.
You know the type, the women who light up when they speak to you, just because she is speaking from an intimate place that is filled with love. These women are genuine and put your needs above their own.
I want to be mentored by women who have a heart for God! To surround myself with women who have learned from their life experiences. Women who can share that His way is a better way and the only way.
In this season, my mission is to serve as a guide and mentor to women. My goal is to help them become the woman God intended them to be, no matter the season they find themselves in. I want to encourage and equip them in their journey. To share my experiences and the lessons that have led me to where I am today.
“Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Keep on shining!

Such a good reminder of the importance of imparting our faith and God’s truth to others. One of my favorite quotes is “you cannot impart what you do not possess.” so its a good encouragement to me to walk well with the Lord so I have something to pass down. Thank you for this post!
Hello Karin and thank you for the words of encouragement! I agree with your quote. It is so important for us to encourage one another and share our stories to uplift and support. It is so reassuring when I realize that I am “not the only one that may have experienced a specific challenge or a difficult circumstance.” I much prefer the comforting words of my friends and I am thankful for the friendship!
All the best,
Robin
I thank God for the women who came alongside me to invest, share life and mentor me in the truth of God’s Word. There is no greater gift than Titus 2 mentoring. Thank you for this important reminder and encouragement to share our time and stories with other women.
Hello Chris and thank you for your encouragement. Your comments are reflective of Titus 2 mentoring! Words of encouragement are so affirming certainly when shared by a sister of Christ. I am grateful for your feedback 🙂
All the best,
Robin
This is so important. I had a woman who was my spiritual director, I would tell her what was going on, then she would ask me, what’s God saying to you in this? It was so important for me to hear those words.
Hello Alice 🙂 What a blessing to have someone guide us in our walk with Christ. Thank you for sharing your experience with mentoring. I am so thankful to my friends who pray with me, listen to me, and support me in my walk. This is one area of my life where I continually see God’s work, connecting me with fellow believers. One of my favorite questions to ask, “where is God in the story or experience.” I love reflection and I try to devote as much time as possible reflecting on His words and where He is guiding me. Thank you for your comments. I am grateful.
All the best,
Robin
